KATABASIS

Parallel Lines

A conceptual design and art project exploring the relationships between history, narrative, and personal psychology.

Weaving together ancient history, traditional art, and contemporary design with personal storytelling and poetry, KATABASIS is a 220-page journey into (and out from) the depths of the human subconscious. Drawing inspiration from the work of Joseph Campbell, Ellen Lupton, Barbara Kruger, Jenny Holzer, and other designers preoccupied with Postmodern theory and invested in socially transgressive methodologies, KATABASIS wields both radical honesty and unapologetic self-expression to create a story experience that is both universal and highly personal. While the book is not available online (contact the designer for a digital copy), this website presents the design projects showcased in it.

Submitted in completion of the requirements for a Master's of Fine Arts in Graphic Design at Boston University, August 2023.
